The Technology

Extensive laboratory tests have proven that the heating and pasteurization process is 99.999% effective for inactivating disease-causing bacteria, virus and micro-organisms. Even sewage laden water is disinfected through the process.

Currently, three distinct water pasteurizer systerms are being promoted by Developing World Solar. The Family Sol*Saver provides an indigenous family with four gallons of water in less than two hours of sunlight. The village sized Sol*Saver (depicted in the drawing below) can provide up to 50 families with 264 gallons of drinking water each sunny day. And the biomass-burner systerm can be utilized in colder wetter regions to efficently disinfect up to 528 gallons per day.

The pasteurizers provide flexible installation options. They can be installed on the ground, a flat roof, or other surface. Requiring only simple hand-tools for set-up, the solar panels are ideal for rural locations. The patented design incorporates an efficiency heat exchanger and a fail-safe thermal control valve. All three system designs are constructed from durable materials and function for years with little maintanence.
